-- Irish MEP: US doesn’t want Iran to enrich uranium but supplying Australia with nuclear subs
The Irish member of the European Parliament Mick Wallace criticized the US double standard over Iran’s nuclear program, saying that the United States doesn’t want Iran to enrich uranium but has no problem with supplying Australia with nuclear submarines.
“US doesn’t want #Iran to enrich uranium beyond 3.67% but have no problem supplying #Australia with US nuclear submarines that use bomb grade uranium - Is this a violation of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty? Is ‘Rules based International Order’ #US + Allies making up the rules?”, the European official tweeted on Wednesday.
For decades, the US has been trying to impede Iran’s progress in its nuclear program through different ways including sanctions. In 2015, Iran and world powers – Russia, China, France, UK, the US and Germany – signed an agreement to end the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program.
-- IMF revises Iran’s 2021 economic growth projection to 2.5%
International Monetary Fund (IMF) lowered its expectation of Iran’s economic growth for 2021 by 0.7% to 2.5%, according to a latest document published by the Fund.
Tables in the IMF’s World Economic Outlook projected that Iran will end the current year with a lower-than-expected growth in gross domestic product (GDP), mainly because of the continued impacts of the US sanctions and the hit suffered to the economy from the coronavirus pandemic.
-- Soltaniyeh Dome, architectural masterpiece of Ilkhanid Era
Soltaniyeh Dome, a historical monument dating back to the Ilkhanid Era (1256-1353 CE), located in the city of Soltaniyeh, the northwestern province of Zanjan, is one of the architectural masterpieces of Iran, said the research director of the province’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization.
In an exclusive interview with Iran Daily, Abolfazl Aali said that the dome, along with other ancient structures of the historical city of Soltaniyeh, are the significant manifestations of the culture, art and architecture of the Ilkhanid Era.

-- Iran, Pakistan Discuss Expanding Security Ties
The chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces and the prime minister of Pakistan on Wednesday stressed the need to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields, including border security and defense cooperation.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan, Major General Muhammad Baqeri called for closer cooperation between the two neighbors, who have seen a significant leap in relations in recent years.
Imran Khan also stressed the commitment of the Pakistani government to deepen relations with Iran, especially in the border, economic, military, and security sectors.
He stressed that the crisis in Afghanistan has never had a military solution, and an inclusive government should be formed with the participation of all Afghan groups.

Iran’s Foolad Sirjan have defeated Thailand’s Diamond Food 3-1 (25-19, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23) in the 2021 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship.
Foolad will play Nakhon Ratchasima QminC on Thursday in the semifinals.
The competition is being held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from October 8 to 15.
The 2021 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship is the eleventh edition of the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship, an annual international volleyball club tournament organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA).
The winner of this tournament will be qualified to 2021 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship.
-- Afghanistan Asks Iran to Facilitate Afghan Goods Export to India Via Chabahar
The Taliban have have approached Iran for help to restart the export of fresh and dry fruits, a major revenue earner, to India via the Chabahar route.
Tehran has agreed to evaluate Taliban’s proposals for the transportation of Afghanistan’s trade cargoes and export of fresh and dried fruits to India via the Chabahar route, Iran’s Tasnim news agency said.
The Taliban submitted the detailed plan last week when representatives of both countries signed a comprehensive trade agreement. Iran and the Taliban have agreed to maintain round-the-clock operation at the Islam Qala-Dogarun border crossing and take practical measures to improve and develop the land routes at the border crossing.

-- 1,400 houses provided to families with disabled members
Barekat Charity Foundation, affiliated with the Headquarters for Executing the Order of the Imam, provided 1,400 residential units to Iranian families with two or more members with disabilities. "Last year (March 2020-March 2021), a joint memorandum of understanding was signed between the Headquarters for Executing the Order of the Imam, the Welfare Organization, and the Housing Foundation to build houses for families with two or more disabled members.
After a year, 1400 units in all 31 provinces of the country have been built and prepared and will be delivered to their owners," Seyed Mostafa Seyed-Hashemi, deputy coordinator of the Headquarters for Executing the Order of the Imam said.

Having one of the oldest and most prominent shipping lines in the region, Iran has been taking serious measures for developing its shipping industry over the past two decades; however external factors such as sanctions have been holding this industry down and preventing it from reaching its true potential. As the country’s flag carrier group, the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) was reported to be the world’s 15th biggest shipping line in Alphaliner’s rankings of prominent carriers in its Feb. 16, 2021 report, with a consolidated capacity of 151,706 TEUs.
IRISL currently has 150 active vessels, of which 32 are bulk carriers, 30 are container vessels, 22 are cargo carriers of general goods, 18 are service and passenger vessels, two are Roll-on/roll-off, and three are barges.
-- Field survey traces Neanderthal remains in western Iran
An archaeological survey has commenced on the Bawa Yawan shelter and its surroundings hoped to shed new light on Neanderthal life in western Iran.
Co-led by Iranian archaeologists Saman Heydari-Guran and Ahmad Azadi, the survey also aims to demarcate boundaries of the site, which yielded an in-situ Neanderthal tooth in 2017.
In previous [archaeological] seasons, in addition to the discovery of a 42,000-year-old Neanderthal tooth, archaeological layers embracing cultural data from Paleolithic, Middle Neolithic, and post-Paleolithic periods were identified, ISNA quoted Heydari-Guran as saying on Monday.
